Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - Something Special (D1424)

It is the Stamp of the Month Blog hop for August - if you have hopped in from Jen you are moving along fine. Your next hop will be  Chris.  Please take a moment and check out what I have created for you and I love to hear what you have to say, so leave a comment.

Oh my Something Special is something special.  Full of beautiful flowers and soft sentiments.

This stamp set inspires so many ideas, so be on the look out for more artwork using this stamp set.

School is starting and the summer heat is (hopefully) almost over and thoughts of flowers are beginning to fade.

Enjoy flowers whenever you need in any color of your choice.

This month has been altered binder clips - all this cute binder clip picture frame needs is a 2 inch binder clip (office supply store), a 2 x 3 3/16 peice of pattern paper (Cherry-O Creative Basics X5810), Bonding Memories glue (1512) and the larger Something Special flower - a base and shade stamp, I stamped the base of the flower in Tulip (Z2166) and stamped the shade flower image piece using Chocolate ink (Z2111).  A big flower makes the best embellishment for a picture frame.
Now over to Chris's blog -- plese let me know what you think before you go.

Shooting for the Stars - Disney Stars!!

It is time to dream, to set goals, to make plans -- Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.  I love this saying and one of my goals is to play among the Disney stars at the 2011 Close To My Heart Convention.

Like the little boy in the commercial says 'I am toooooo excited '  So I started my goal setting by listing them - and I would love to share just a few with you:

1. Put together a plan (and work it baby work it) for attending the Convention (and CTMH is making this faster, simpler, easier with a great payment plan - Dollars to Disney)
2. Set my sights on Director's row and share my love and my passion for the job I do with everyone - are you ready for some fun? I am just an email/phone call away.
3. Share the faster, simpler, easier Close To My Heart way of scrapbooking/cardmaking/papercrafts because it works and it is amazing - don't take my word for it let me show you how
4. Earn the new Hawaiian Cruise - an amazing incentive trip and a doable goal!

So with goals set and plans in the works, I had to have some creative fun - I made myself a little tracking book to keep up with all my needs for convention - a place 'how am I doing on saving for the trip', ideas for those great little roomie gifts, a place to jot down my new friends information, and MORE.

I love to save change - and what a great way to have that little extra spending money - my own Dollars to Disney plan -

So I found the biggest jar I could (gotta set them goals high) and shook out all the clothes, purses, etc., checked out all the creases in the furniture, all the places change likes to collect and now I am ready to rock 'n roll on my way to some fun, fabulous, absolutely amazing adventures with my bestest friends - my CTMH sisters and brothers!  Join US!!

July's Tips and Techniques

I love to learn new techniques and try new ideas - this month my Techie Team will be learning how to use Close To My Heart's newest tool, 1 1/4 circle punch, to create create cute flowers and we will be using July's stamp of the month, Happy Forever (D1423), to work on our coloring with markers.

Using the Splendor Level 2 Paper Packet, I created the cute little flower using nine circles, eight folded and one for the base.  I added a cute littel butterfly from the Just Blooms Spring Flowers.

Next I used the Bamboo and Chocolate marker to color in a cute little hedgehog from the Happy Forever stamp set.  I colored the body using the Bamboo marker, I sponged the prickly little spines in Chocolate and highlighted with the chocolate marker.  I hope you are able to make it to one of the Techie Team demonstrations - learn how to be a Techie Team member.

Southern Food - Fried Green Tomatoes

I am not Southern by birth - I am Southern by choice.  We moved to the South during my elementary school years and I call the South home now.  With that said my taste for Southern food has taken some time to develop.

Recently I have been introduced to fried green tomatoes and I loved them.  Sweet green tomatoes dipped in flour and meal, fried to a golden brown.

Here is my first attempt - thanks to my crocheting friends who offered me their recipes.

1 green tomato (fresh from the farmer's market
2 eggs whisked
1 cup of flour
salt and pepper
1 cup panko bread crumbs (my addition)
frying pan
oil (enough to only cover the tomatoes)

Heat oil to med high heat. Slice the tomato (not too thin not too thick) - salt and pepper.  Put flour and bread crumbs in plastic bag (salt and pepper flour too).  Dredge tomato in egg, put in bag and shake, leave for a few minutes to coat well.  Place in heated oil.

Cook until you see the sides turning a golden brown and turn.  Once both sides are golden brown, remove from oil and place on paper towel covered plate. Let them cool, just a little, cause they are best when warm.

Eat and enjoy!

Clear Cards are AWESOME

I am loving the Clear Cards - so much I am hosting a Clear Card Workshop

Awesome new clear cards create wonderful cards and more. Create 7 clear cards and one clear card frame (shown above).

Workshop kit includes Creative Basics B&T Duos paper (2sheets), Colonial White Buttons, Chocolate and Colonial White cardstock, 8 New Clear Cards (4 squares and 4 Scalloped Circles) Colonial White and Red Velvet ribbon (comes in the Creative Basics kit), instruction sheet and more...

Instructions for the clear card frame - cut one square card in half (I used my craft knife), cut 4x4 from one of the B&T Duos, cut a 3x3 Chocolate cardstock mat and a 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 piece of Colonial White cardstock, use a 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 photo.

Adhere (I used a little Tombow adhesive in the corners) the 4x4 piece of B&T Duos to the front of one of the card halves.  Attach the photo to the Colonial White cardstock mat and using the edge distresser, distress the edges of the mat.  Attach the photo and Colonial White mat to the Chocolate mat and again distress the edges.  Adhere this to the center of the B&T Duos.

Place a big button in each corner and place the second piece of the clear card on top - using your piercing tool and piercing mat, put a hole in the clear card top, through the button holes and down through the bottom card piece (you may want to use a mini glue dot to hold the button in place - do not put glue dot under the hole but instead over to the side).  Using Chocolate Waxy Flax or a needle and floss, you will now attach a smaller button that will go on top of the clear card top and through all layers to the back card - tie a small not at the back.

Create a sentiment piece or embellish to your hearts desire.

Enjoy another great Close To My Heart product -- CTMH you ROCK!!
