May Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - Chairs to You

Welcome to our May 2011 Stamp of the Month Blog Hop featuring Chairs to You. If you have come here from Teri's blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.

This month we have over 50 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month's SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs.  To follow along just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

I loved this stamp set from the moment I saw it and when I went to work with it, I was blank. A few friends were cropping with me and I was telling them about this stamp set and one of the ladies said 'we used to make a card for those who missed Sunday school. We would use chairs and put flowers on one and the sentiment would be missing you.'  The light bulb went off. There was a great heart on the stamp set and I had just received the Card Chatter Sympathy (D1476) stamp set. There was the answer, the sentiment 'Just sittin' here' - and on the inside 'thinking of you'
A simple card, Black ink for the chairs, Tulip ink for the heart, and the Black marker to create an outline.

I first made a mask by stamping the heart image on a post-it-note (up by the sticky part so it will stick on its own) and cut it out.
Stamp the first chair image in Black ink approximately 3/4" from the left edge and 1/2" from the bottom. Using a pencil make a light mark where the next chair should go, place the heart mask so it will sit on the chair seat.
Stamp two more chairs, stamping the middle chair directly over the mask. And the next chair approximately the same distance as the second chair. You could make a light pencil mark to ensure even distribution of the chairs.

Remove the mask, stamp the heart image in Tulip and cut the image out and using 3-D foam tape, pop the heart up over the heart spot in the chair.
Stamp the 'Just sittin' here...' sentiment and add the bold marker drawn line around the card.

Simple and yet cute.

Now "Hop" on over to Kami's Blog to see her work! And keep going to see what craft, creative projects these talented  Consultants came up with. And please leave a comment, I love to know what  you think.

Love the project and don't have your own Close To My Heart consultant, take trip to shirleyross.myctmh.com to see how you can get this stamp set at a discount or even free! Remember, the May SOTM is only available until the 31st

Sophia and Flower Ribbon

As promised, the card created today at the Team Card party. A little Sophia and a great big rose cut from the roses ribbon a part of the Pink Collection ribbon.

I used the Wishes how-to book for the sketch, Hollyhock card stock and Sophia My Reflections Level 2 paper packet.

The April stamp of the Month, Blessed (D1455), is the image used to create the stem and leaves. Using the piercing tool, holes approximately 1/4" apart were made along the main stem and on one side of the leaves. Stitching using a light green embroidery thread was added to create a little light and dark effect for shading.

The butterfly shade stamp (outline) was stamped in Hollyhock ink on the Hollyhock card base in the upper right hand corner. On a small piece of White Daisy card stock, the base butterfly image was stamped in second generation (load ink on stamp image, stamp off onto scratch paper, and then stamp on the project creating a lighter shade) and then the shade butterfly stamp image inked in Hollyhock was stamped over the base. The image was trimmed closely and with the wings folded up a little, a glue dot was used to adhere the cutout butterfly over the tone-on-tone Hollyhock butterfly image already stamped on the card based.

The finally touch was to add a ribbon rose to the top of the stem by cutting out a single rose from the roses ribbon found in the Pink Ribbon Collection.

Hope you enjoyed the card as much as Darlene and I had in working on them at our Team Card Party.

Team Card Party is Today

I love our Team Card Parties. We get together, share ideas, learn a new technique, and spend a few hours with good friends.

April is all about stitching and our card party creation will demonstrate some easy stitches you can use on a card, a scrapbook page. Here is a sneak peek without giving away the total card.  Later I will post our little creation.

Looking forward to a little El Rancho and a little stitch in time.
